Boeing for the longest time, I can remember, stood for excellence; it was an engineering company managed by Engineers, until Accountants crashed the party and took the reigns of Boeing. The culture changed around the time when Boeing merged with the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft company. That is, Boeing took over its previous competitor; this polluted Boeing's culture of an engineering company to a company run by bean counters, resulting in a change in culture for the worse, as recent history shows.
